SJM “Tell China Stories” promulgates “Love the Motherland and Love Macau” spirit
Proud to be rooted in Macau, SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) has been hosting a series of parent-children events for its staff and families, with the objective of enhancing “National Education” across the generations. The series focuses on showcasing China’s illustrious achievements on various fronts, reinforces the “Love the Motherland and Love Macau” spirit, and instills sense of responsibility to give back and contribute to the building of a stronger nation. SJM kicked off the newest edition of the “Tell China’s Stories” workshop at the Kam Pek Community Centre on 24 September 2022, popularly attended by over 25 families.
Coordinated by the SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee (“SWCC”), “Tell China’s Stories” workshops feature a variety of themes relating to the country’s renowned figures, contemporary developments and cultural projects. The latest of which introduces China’s aeronautical achievements, including the naming rationale of Tiangong Space Station, its functionalities and significance to the nation. The event was led by Mr. Chan Cheuk Wah, lecturer from the City University of Macau, Faculty of International Tourism and Management, who also shared the origin and tradition of Mid-Autumn Festival. From myths and legends to the dream of space exploration and technological developments, all participants keenly attended. Highlighting the remarkable success of the nation, the workshop inspired the younger generation to discharge their duties as responsible and patriotic citizens.
Following the talk, an art instructor was on hand to demonstrate how to create a patriotic-themed three dimensional mosaic, offering precious family time to our staff and their children and strengthening family bonds. It was a valuable opportunity to educate families in national culture while enjoying filial activities.
Director of SJM and Chairman of SWCC Ms. Angela Leong appreciated the joint participation from employees and their children. Through these parent-children activities, families could enjoy quality time while kids could deepen their understanding of the nation. Ms. Leong reaffirmed SJM’s commitment in organising different kinds of staff activities, including national education, aiming to promote their patriotic spirit and sense of belonging to the company, resonating with the corporate mission.
