Dedicated support towards “CTA Tour SJM Professional Finals (Macau) and National Tennis Championships” Cultural Event Series
SJM showed its dedicated support towards the Sports Tourism Forum and the China Tennis History and Culture Tour, which were held during the CTA Tour SJM Professional Finals (Macau) and National Tennis Championships in Macau.
When successfully leveraged, competitive tournaments serve the dual purposes of popularizing tennis as a sport, as well as enhancing the host city's image as a tourism destination. As such, the CTA Tour organized a Sports Tourism Forum comprising three keynote speeches and a round-table dialogue, in which industry leaders shared their perspectives concerning the concept, history, current development, long-term impact, and prospect of sports tourism. Speakers discussed ways in which sports can catapult a city’s international reputation, drive visitation and promote tourism revenue in the new era. The Forum was held at Grand Lisboa Palace on 10 December 2022, featuring prominent speakers including Director of Tennis Administrative Center of General Administration of Sport Mr. Lu Liang, General Manager of Beijing CTA Tour Sport Management Co. Ltd. Mr. Peng Lingchang, and Professor Tan Jianxiang of the School of Physical Education and Sport Science and expert of the Think Tank of General Administration of Sport of China.
The China Tennis History and Culture Tour (Macau stop) was held at Grand Lisboa Hotel from 10 to 13 December 2022. It marked the first stop of a series of roadshows organized by the Chinese Tennis Association, the China Open National Tennis Center (Beijing) and the Beijing Yunhui Wooden Tennis Racket Museum, and hosted by the Macau Tennis Association. Mr. Liu Wenbin, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Tennis Administrative Center of General Administration of Sport and Vice President of the Chinese Tennis Association; Mr. Pun Weng Kun, President of the Sports Bureau of the Macau SAR Government; Ms. Li Yunhui, Director of Beijing Yunhui Wooden Tennis Racket Museum, and Dr. Ambrose So, Director of SJM.
The exhibition showcased the origin of world tennis as well as its development in China and local precincts. It allowed tennis enthusiasts to learn about the far-reaching history of tennis culture, and to gain insights into the inspiring role that the game played in the context of Chinese history. The organiser intended for upcoming exhibitions to incorporate Macau's tennis development successes and compile a distinctive chapter about Macau's unique tennis culture. The Tour will serve as a platform for promoting Macau’s sports tradition and multifaceted charm in the future.
