SJM Officially Unveils “Blossoms at Grand Lisboa Palace – A Group Exhibition by Macau’s Emerging Artists”
SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) officially unveiled “Blossoms at Grand Lisboa Palace – A Group Exhibition by Macau’s Emerging Artists” on 30 March 2023 at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau (“Grand Lisboa Palace”), in collaboration with six emerging artists from the Macau Youth Art Association. The theme of this exhibition is “Flowers in Bloom”, which perfectly complements Macao Government Tourism Office’s latest tourism campaign “Spring into Arts”. From now through September 2023, visitors and local residents will have the opportunity to appreciate six large-scale art installations from a variety of perspectives and fully immerse themselves in a multi-sensory art and cultural experience.
The lighting ceremony was officiated by Ms. Bai Bing, Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Ms. Leong Wai Man, Director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government; Ms. Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office; Ms. Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM; Mr. Lok Po, Director of the Macao Daily News; Mr. Lok Hei, President of Macau Artist Society; Mr. Lai Sio Kit, Chairman of Macau Youth Art Association. Ms. Angela Leong, Director of SJM and all six participating artists were also present to witness the lighting ceremony.
Ms. Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM, remarked “As we welcome spring, a time of hope and vitality, SJM is pleased to hold the “Blossoms at Grand Lisboa Palace” exhibition in collaboration with the Macau Youth Art Association. As the name suggests, “flowers” are at the heart of this exhibition, while our integrated resort is a vessel which enables young artists to create, display and communicate, through which we can promote the integrated development of “cultural creations + tourism”. We will continue to conceive a diverse range of art and cultural exhibitions, and to propagate Chinese heritage on the global stage.”
Mr. Lai Sio Kit, Chairman of the Macau Youth Art Association said: “The collaborative exhibition showcases the unique styles of different artists with ‘flowers’ as a common medium. The artists created their own renditions, applying different colour palettes and textures to reinterpret the relationship between people, nature and the city. Let us enjoy a different kind of flower show this spring at Grand Lisboa Palace!”
The Macau Youth Art Association selected the following six emerging artists to participate in this exhibition: Leong Kit Man; Julia Lam; Liu Xinjue; Chiang Wai Lan; Dor Lio and Kuok Hoi Leng. Breaking the confines of canvases and presented in three-dimensional space, the flower installations blend beautifully with the exhibition venues to create a new, multi-sensory experience for viewers. The six installations on display are: “The Best Moment of a Flower Blossom”; “Favourable Weather for Crops”; “Spring Blossoms”; “Twin Lotus Flowers”; Appreciating the Beauty of Others” and “The Graceful Flight of Butterflies”. They will be displayed in lobbies and the Bazar of Grand Lisboa Palace; from now through September 2023.
At the launch event today, guests were invited to participate in an art workshop and get creative. Grand Lisboa Palace will continue to host art workshops once a month on weekends, giving the entire community an opportunity to unleash their creative talents.
