23 October 2024 – SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) joined hands with the Fire Services Bureau of the Macao SAR Government (the “Fire Services Bureau”) once again this year to organise a fire prevention seminar and a fire extinguisher practice session. The training aimed to raise and enhance  staff’s awareness of  fire prevention, as well as the proper use of fire extinguishers and equipment, ensuring the safety of visitors and property while cultivating a secure environment.

On the afternoon of 23 October, approximately 70 staff members attended a training session led by professional firefighters to improve their knowledge and skills in using fire extinguishers. The following morning, approximately 100 staff members participated in a fire prevention seminar in the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Lisboa Hotel. The seminar covered a range of topics, including the routine operations of the Fire Services Bureau, common causes of fires, typical fire emergencies, proper use of fire extinguishers and fire hose reels, as well as electrical safety tips for daily life. Participants were actively engaged throughout the seminar, listening attentively to the firefighter’s explanations. As a result, they enhanced their understanding of fire crises and improved their reaction capabilities and self-help skills in the event of a fire.

Additionally, SJM conducted a fire evacuation drill on 21 October at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort, simulating a scenario in which an electric car caught fire during recharging. This drill aimed to enhance staff members’ reaction capabilities, evacuation skills, and understanding of escape techniques and evacuating procedures. Approximately 70 employees from various departments gathered swiftly and in an orderly manner in a designated outdoor area via the escape hatch during the drill, demonstrating the critical importance of staying calm in a fire emergency.

As a local enterprise deeply rooted in Macau, SJM has persistently promoted fire prevention knowledge and safety awareness by offering a variety of seminars and training sessions to its staff members.
