“SJM SME Institution Logo Design Competition” Winner to Participate in the Souvenir Manufacturing Process
21 January 2025 – SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) is committed to fostering the development of medium, small, and micro enterprises (“MSME”) in Macau. In 2024, SJM established the “SJM SME Institution” and partnered with the Macao Polytechnic University (“MPU”) to organise a logo design competition. Supported by the Macao Chamber of Commerce, this initiative provided a vibrant platform for young talents to showcase their skills while promoting the synergy and development of the tourism, leisure, and cultural and creative industries. The award presentation ceremony took place on 21 January at MPU, attended by Dr. Lei Ngan Lin, Vice-Rector of MPU; Ms. Hoi Lok Man, Vice-President of Board of Directors of the Macao Chamber of Commerce; Dr. Paul Hung, President of Security, Surveillance, and Environmental Social Governance of SJM; as well as over 100 students and lecturers from the Department of Art and Design at MPU.
The "SJM SME Institution Logo Design Competition" featured a remarkable array of design submissions, which were very encouraging. After a thoughtful selection, the final winner was Cao Wei, under the guidance of Lei Cheng Cheong. The first runner-up was Zhou Xiaoyu and Xu Jiali, who were instructed by Sun Ming Yuan. The second runner-up was Cui Jihao, mentored by Wong Chi Kuan. Three teams received merit awards were Li Xinluan, Cao Wei (for another submission), and the team of Wang Tai and Wang Ruier. The winning participant will be invited to participate in the design and manufacturing process of souvenirs for the “SJM SME Institution.” This hands-on experience is designed to enhance the winner’s understanding of SME workflow, particularly in areas such as product quality management, equipping the winner with invaluable skills for future endeavours.
The “SJM SME Institution” is dedicated to regularly organising events aimed at supporting local SMEs. These gatherings include business experience-sharing sessions, forums focused on industry standards and interactive workshops. The beneficiary of these initiatives extends to MSMEs that have not yet established business relationships with SJM. Since its establishment last year, the institution has successfully hosted monthly sharing forums covering topics like sustainable development, food safety, and internet safety. These efforts aim to help MSMEs enhance their competitiveness. In 2024, over 180 MSMEs participated, with a total of over 230 attendees.
