SJM Wins Two Prestigious Awards during 2025MIECF
31 March 2025 – SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) participated in the 2025 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (“2025MIECF”). MIECF is hosted by the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region and serves as a vital platform for promoting regional co-operation and practical solutions for a more sustainable future. Held under the theme “Innovation and Green Development – Solutions to Build Beautiful Cities,” this year’s forum brought together enterprises, policymakers and environmental innovators to explore actionable approaches to urban sustainability.
SJM was delighted to receive third prize in the Green Booth Award at the 2025MIECF for the second consecutive year. In addition, SJM has been honoured with the inaugural “ESG Awards for Excellence,” a prestigious industry accolade presented in conjunction with the 2025MIECF. This award recognises the company’s exceptional performance in environmental management and its commitment to embedding eco-friendly principles into the daily operations.
Ms. Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM, remarked, “Driving Macau’s sustainable development remains our core commitment. By integrating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals into our business strategy and partnering with stakeholders, we help to build a greener, smarter tourism hub. This honour does not only celebrate our team’s work, but also fuels our ongoing innovation for future generations.”
SJM also unveiled a visually engaging, sustainability-themed booth that reflected the company’s environmental ethos. Drawing inspiration from nature and adorned with greenery, the design featured recycled materials and SJM’s mascot, Florist Sam. Modular panels constructed from eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient lighting reinforced the booth’s sustainability message, while informative displays highlighted SJM’s efforts in water conservation, energy optimisation and green operations across its properties. For instance, at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, almost 70 faucet flow regulators have been installed, saving approximately seven liters of water per minute per faucet. Additionally, at Grand Lisboa Macau, underground water is utilised for non-drinking purposes, maximising the use of alternative water sources. LED lights have been implemented throughout SJM’s properties to conserve resources. Furthermore, SJM’s booth has achieved the Certified Carbon Neutral MICE Events Label by supporting carbon credits for a wind power project with the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) programme.
Demonstrating its support for sustainable procurement, SJM also took part in a Protocol Signing Ceremony during the event, where a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with a local SME specialising in hygiene products. The agreement reflects SJM’s commitment to fostering collaboration with local enterprises and advancing responsible sourcing practices.
With its active engagement at the 2025MIECF, SJM reaffirms its leadership in driving green development in Macau and in setting new benchmarks for sustainable practices within the integrated resort sector.
