SJM Hosts Patriotic Sharing Session to Mark the 2025 China Victory Day Parade
9 September 2025 – SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) today hosted the “2025 China Victory Day Parade – SJM Patriotic Sharing Session” at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau. The session was led by Ms. Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM, and was honoured by the presence of Ms. Ho Sut Heng, President of the Macau Federation of Trade Unions (“FAOM”), and Mr. Lee Chong Cheng, Chairperson of FAOM, who shared insights on national affairs with SJM team members.
The sharing session was held at the Grand Pavilion and simultaneously livestreamed in meeting rooms, staff dining halls, and back-of-house areas. A total of over 2,000 team members participated, joining together to commemorate history, honor the martyrs, cherish peace, and forge the future. Highlight clips from the sharing session were replayed in the afternoon at staff dining halls and back-of-house areas to allow more team members to view the content.
Ms. Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM, was invited by the Macao SAR Government to represent the company at the “Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War” in Beijing. In her remarks, she stated that the military parade demonstrated the nation’s formidable strength and unwavering commitment to safeguarding peace. She emphasised that the current stability and prosperity have been hard-won and must be cherished and protected, urging team members to carry forward the great spirit of the resistance war and work together for the advancement of the nation and Macau. She also expressed gratitude to the FAOM for its steadfast support, stressing that both sides will continue to join hands in promoting patriotic values, resolutely safeguarding national security, and fully supporting the steady and long-term implementation of the “One Country, Two Systems” principle.
Ms. Angela Leong, Director of SJM and Chairman of the Staff Welfare Consultative Committee, expressed that it was a profound honour to have personally attended the military parade in Beijing and witnessed the exceptional demeanour of the People’s Liberation Army up close. She encouraged the younger generation to remember history and cherish the current peace and prosperity, which are made possible by the courageous sacrifices and selfless contributions of countless martyrs. She particularly thanked the FAOM for its long-standing collaboration with SJM in advancing the welfare of Macau’s labour force. She emphasised that Macau’s future requires the concerted efforts and protections of all sectors of society to ensure continued prosperity, stability, and long-term development.
Ms. Ho Sut Heng, President of FAOM, in her address, emphasised the importance of drawing lessons from history and upholding the core value of peace cherished by the Chinese nation. She noted that remembering history serves as a warning, not a perpetuation of hatred; and that cherishing peace is a core value in Chinese cultural thought. She expressed gratitude to SJM for its long-standing support to the FAOM and stressed the need to work hand in hand with fellow workers to drive Macau’s development and contribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Mr. Lee Chong Cheng, Chairperson of FAOM, was also invited to attend the events in Beijing. He stated that eighty years ago, following fourteen years of arduous resistance, the Chinese people achieved a historic triumph, making the first complete victory in modern Chinese history against foreign invasion. The victory stands as an enduring testament to their invaluable contributions to the global pursuit of world peace. Macau and its compatriots have evolved into a community of shared destiny, uniting to collaborate on the social development of both the Motherland and Macau, as well as for the happiness and well-being of their people.
The sharing session forms an integral part of SJM’s ongoing patriotic education initiatives. Since late August, SJM management and staff members have visited the “For National Liberation and World Peace – Thematic Exhibition Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War”, with nearly 200 colleagues also attending a dedicated screening of the patriotic film “Dead To Rights”. As the first integrated resort operator in Macau to introduce systematic patriotic education programmes and tours, SJM continues to roll out a variety of initiatives, including sharing sessions on the spirit of Two Sessions, the “Jiangxi Jinggangshan Patriotic Education and Training Programme,” and the “My Motherland GBA Tour”. These efforts are designed to strengthen team cohesion and ensure that the patriotic spirit of “Love the Motherland, Love Macau” is passed on from generation to generation.
