SJM Fully Supports UTM Hengqin Training Base Sharing Talk to Explore New Developments in Educational Tourism
13 November 2025 – With the full support of SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”), the Macao University of Tourism Hengqin Training Base (“Training Base”) hosted the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Tourism Education and Training Base” Sharing Talk on 13 November 2025. Under the theme “Empowering the Development of Educational Tourism Destinations – Insights from Macao”, Ms. Porcia Leung, Senior Vice President of Corporate Brand Development and Marketing at SJM, presented the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau as a case study, illustrating how cultural, artistic, technological, and sports elements can be deeply integrated with tourism. She offered innovative ideas and practical approaches from a corporate perspective to enrich the meaning of Macao’s “Tourism+” strategy.
Joining the forum were Ms. Phoebe Lei, Lecturer at the Institute of Executive and Professional Development, Macao University of Tourism, and Mr. Cheong Chi Wai, Deputy Chairman of the Association of Macao Tourist Agents. They offered multi-dimensional insights into Macao’s educational tourism ecosystem and shared how the city has successfully created unique cultural tourism experiences within a compact urban environment.
The event brought together over 50 participants, including government representatives, travel agencies, scenic area operators, educational institutions, tourism association leaders, and faculty and students from Zhuhai and Hengqin, who joined guest speakers to explore the future of educational tourism in response to the coordinated development of the cultural and tourism industries across the Greater Bay Area.
