
SJM hosts “Give Blood, Give Love” series
In demonstration of support for World Blood Donor Day on 14 June 2022, SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) continued to host its “Give Blood, Give Love” series which started earlier in March. Through promotional events, talks and seminars conducted at various resort properties and workplaces, staff gained health information and learnt how the healthcare system relies on regular donations in order to ensure sufficient supply to save lives.
The first blood donation event was held on 12 and 13 May 2022 at Casino Oceanus at Jai Alai and was enthusiastically attended by close to 100 employees. This was followed by a second event on 31 May and 1 June 2022 at Casino Grand Lisboa primarily attended by newly joined members of SJM’s volunteer team, many of whom were also first-time donors. A significant number of senior management members signed up to the life-saving cause and led as role model to serve the community spreading hope and warmth.
Ms. Daisy Ho, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SJM and Ms. Angela Leong, Managing Director of SJM and Chairman of the SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee attended in person to pay tribute to the voluntary donors for their selfless act and valuable gift of life.
Ms. Daisy Ho expressed, “The community is front and centre in SJM’s corporate culture. We appreciate the values of blood donation in enhancing community solidarity and social cohesion. It is most encouraging to see staff from all divisions coming together to support the event. I wish we can be a consistent force to help save lives and become guardians of our community.”
Ms. Angela Leong called upon the voluntary donors to proactively share the experience with friends and family, especially to encourage the younger crowd to embrace the act of kindness.
SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee invited health professionals from the Macao Blood Transfusion Service to support the events. Staff who participated revealed that they became significantly more confident and determined to give blood with their increased knowledge in the procedure and its importance. The company also made it convenient by hosting events as such which enabled donation right at the workplace. The staff were exhilarated to be a part of SJM’s concerted efforts in caring for the community.
