Grand Lisboa Palace attains LEED Silver certification in the New Construction category
Grand Lisboa Palace, the newest integrated resort developed by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (“SJM”) on Cotai, was recently awarded the prominent Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (“LEED”) Silver certification in the New Construction category, recognising SJM’s continued commitment in environmental sustainability.
LEED, established by the U.S. Green Building Council, is the world’s most widely-used green building rating system. It provides a comprehensive framework for green building design, construction, operations and performance, while rewarding best practices and innovation and commending exemplary building projects with certifications.
Identified as a showcase example of sustainability by the certification, Grand Lisboa Palace has demonstrated compliance with stringent building standards in areas of sustainable sites, energy and atmosphere, water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, innovation in design and regional priority.

Grand Lisboa Palace adopts a wide range of eco-friendly features to achieve reduced and effective use of energy and water resources. All guestrooms are installed with heat recovery ventilation systems in bathrooms, energy-efficient LED lights, temperature sensors, dual-flush water closets and faucets with low-flow fixtures, as well as smart control on curtains that will close automatically when the room is empty, reducing solar heat from the windows and the cooling loads of the room.
In addition, the Central Chiller Plant System and Building Management System of the resort will optimise operations of water-side equipment of air conditioning, whereas the demand control variable speed drives save energy consumption by controlling the chilled and hot water pumps and air handling units.
Adopting a holistic approach to drive sustainability, SJM will continuously review and enhance its day-to-day operations, sourcing, office administration, facilities and waste management, etc., with the goal of enabling cross-disciplinary implementation of sustainability in its businesses.
