
Aerospace Summer Camp Successfully Concluded Fostering the Interest of the Next Generation in Aeronautical Technologies and Working Together to Realise Aerospace Dreams
9 August 2024 – Student recommended by secondary schools in Macau had joined the 2024 Aerospace Summer Camp, which was organised by the Chinese Society of Astronautics and the Stanley Ho Astronautics Training Foundation, with support from SJM Resorts, S.A. The summer camp was first held in 1992 and this year’s theme focused on Macau. The aim was to promote young students’ understanding of China’s aerospace industry, nurture their interest in this area, and deepen their knowledge of Chinese history and culture.
The 2024 Aerospace Summer Camp was held successfully from 5 to 9 of August in Beijing. The students visited Aerospace Complex, Jinxiu Aerospace Education Base, China Siwei Surveying and Mapping Technology Co.Ltd., Tianjin Aerospace Self-driving Systems Experience Science Base, Beihang University and several key laboratories. They attended themed seminars on space spirit, satellite applications, and drones technology, where they gained knowledge about aerospace science and the development history and significant achievements of China's aerospace. Additionally, they visited the Temple of Heaven to explore ancient cosmology and architectural aesthetics, as well as Tiananmen Square to attend the flag-raising ceremony and experience the patriotic sentiment of the people, uniting in a shared destiny. The Chinese Society of Astronautics held an aerospace knowledge tournament to enrich students' aerospace knowledge. The students actively participated and fully demonstrated their team spirit.
Lastly, there came the students’ sharing session. The participants remarked that this trip was fruitful and deepened their understanding of China’s aerospace development, making them feel proud. They were also deeply impressed by the patriotic spirit, courage, dedication, selflessness, and teamwork of the aerospace workers. They declared their determination to work harder and desire to contribute to the motherland. They also wished more classmates could participate in similar academic activities to pursue the aerospace dream together.
