18 December 2024 – SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) is at the forefront of promoting occupational safety and health (“OSH”) initiatives. SJM collaborates closely with the Labour Affairs Bureau (“DSAL”) of the Macao SAR Government to foster a strong OSH culture throughout the city. Recently, SJM hosted the concluding and annual award presentation ceremony for “SJM OSH Week - Let’s Build a Healthy Workplace 2024: OSH Road Show” at the Grand Lisboa Palace. This event highlighted SJM’s OSH achievements over the past year and celebrated the contributions of its departments and team members who have supported the OSH efforts throughout 2024.

Distinguished guests at the event included Mr. Wong Chi Hong, Director of DSAL; Mr. Chan Chon U, Deputy Director of DSAL; Mr. Lei Seak Chio, Head of the OSH Department at DSAL; Mr. Nuno Martins, General Counsel of SJM; Mr. Daniel Shim, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of SJM; Mr. Damian Quayle, Chief Gaming Officer of SJM; and Dr. Paul Hung, President – Security, Surveillance & ESG of SJM.

In her video address, Ms. Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM, said, “Embracing our motto of ‘People-oriented,’ SJM always prioritises the health and safety of our team members. We strive to create a safe and comfortable environment for our guests through collective team efforts. I want to take this opportunity to express heartfelt gratitude for the outstanding performance and active participation of all departments and team members. Their efforts and persistence have made significant contributions to promoting an OSH culture. I also extend my sincere appreciation to the DSAL for their guidance and support; SJM will continue to partner with the Government to integrate OSH measures into every aspect of our workplace, elevate our OSH standards, and contribute to the sustainable development of the tourism and leisure industry in Macau.”

SJM has maintained a long-standing partnership with DSAL, reflecting our unwavering commitment to provide a safe, comfortable, and healthy work environment for all employees, in alignment with the Macao SAR Government’s OSH policy. In 2024, SJM achieved a remarkable milestone, winning fifteen awards at the “Award Ceremony for Catering Occupational Safety and Health Awarding Scheme,” including the prestigious “Best OSH Restaurant” Grand Gold and Gold Awards. Additionally, all of SJM’s casinos passed the annual government OSH inspection, underscoring our dedication to delivering safe, healthy, and high-quality services.

In the presence of DSAL, SJM established a “Crisis Management Steering Committee” to review the implementation of the company’s OSH policies. Last year, SJM also co-organised several OSH promotional activities with DSAL, the Health Bureau, University Hospital and Smoke-free & Healthy Life Association of Macau. These activities addressed topics such as traffic safety, health breathing, and the care of work-related musculoskeletal disorders by Chinese practitioners. Among these initiatives, the “SJM OSH Week - Let’s Build up the Healthy Workplace 2024” featured a variety of activities scheduled from 2 to 18 December last year at Grand Lisboa Palace, Grand Lisboa Macau, Jai Alai Oceanus, and Ponte 16. The event included booth games, occupational health fitness tests, OSH seminars and workshops (such as yoga stretching and physical therapy). The venues were adorned with numerous OSH messages to educate team members about OSH.

SJM attaches great importance to the safety and health of its team members, actively implementing a variety of occupational safety and health (OSH) activities and measures. As we move forward, SJM is dedicated to optimising its health and safety strategies, raising awareness of OSH among team members, and fostering a culture of safety that permeates the entire organisation.
