
SJM Patriotic Education Series – Two Sessions Spirit Sharing Session Successfully Concludes
19 March 2025 – SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) remains deeply committed to the nation and actively promotes patriotic education among the wider community and its employees. On the morning of 19 March, SJM hosted the “SJM Patriotic Education Series – Two Sessions Spirit Sharing Session” at the Grand Lisboa Macau Grand Ballroom. The event was attended and supported by Mr. Yang Yi, Deputy Director of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, and has invited distinguished guest speakers, including Mr. Lao Ngai Leong, Macau Deputy to the National People’s Congress (“NPC”), Ms. Ho Sut Heng, Macau Deputy to the NPC, Mr. Lee Chong Cheng, Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (“CPPCC”) from Macao SAR, and Ms. Grace Wong Kit-cheng, Member of the National Committee of the CPPCC from Macao SAR. Over 350 SJM employees attended the briefing, where key takeaways and highlights of the Two Sessions 2025 were conveyed.
Among the attendees were Ms. Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM; Ms. Angela Leong, Director of SJM and Chairman of the Staff Consultative Committee; and SJM’s management team. Ms. Angela Leong also served as the moderator of the event.
In her welcome remarks, Ms. Daisy Ho stated “We are deeply committed to embracing the spirit of the Two Sessions and steadfastly supporting the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ principle in Macau. As a leading driver of the Macau economy, SJM is dedicated to enhancing our strength and resources to foster new quality productive forces with distinctive Macau characteristics, with the aim to inject new meaning into the ‘Tourism+’ development strategy and broaden Macau’s customer base for facilitating Macau’s integration into national development and establishing a world-class platform for global engagement.” She further encouraged the staff members to translate the spirit of the Two Sessions into concrete actions, aligning national policies with the company’s vision and their personal growth. Uniting under SJM’s ethos of “Love for the Motherland, Love for Macau”, she called for collective efforts to shape a brighter future for both the nation and Macau, paving the way for a thriving new era.
At the event, the four guest speakers provided insights from various perspectives, sharing key messages from the Two Sessions and summarising the central government’s annual work report and policy priorities. They explored how Macau could leverage the advantages of “One Country, Two Systems” to strengthen its competitive edge. Discussions also focused on Macau’s role in fostering moderate economic diversification while actively participating in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (“GBA”) and the Hengqin Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone (“HGM Zone”), promoting international ties, fostering consensus, strengthening collaboration, and aligning more closely with the nation’s development strategy, in contribution to national growth and revitalisation.
Mr. Lao Ngai Leong delivered a comprehensive overview of NPC members’ participation in the Two Sessions, highlighting key points from the Central Government Work Report and outlining its ten major tasks for 2025. He noted the Central Government’s comprehensive support and expectations for Macau, particularly in driving economic diversification, integrating into the GBA, and advancing the HGM Zone, with a series of favourable policies tailored for Macau. The Central Government has also given significant attention to improving the quality of life for Macau residents and supporting youth entrepreneurship, reflecting the nation’s strong commitment and support to Macau’s future development.
Ms. Ho Sut Heng provided an in-depth explanation of the 2024 Central Government Work Report, outlining key priorities and development goals for 2025. She highlighted various initiatives aimed at improving social security policies, enhancing healthcare services, and implementing stronger measures to stabilise and expand employment. She shared her insights on the Central Government’s strong support and high expectations for Macau during the Two Sessions, highlighting technological innovation as a major focus of discussion. Against this backdrop, she underscored the role of the HGM Zone in advancing cutting-edge technologies and fostering the “Four New Industries” to drive Macau’s economic diversification while strengthening regional integration within the GBA.
Mr. Lee Chong Cheng summarised the key priorities of this year’s Two Sessions, which included boosting domestic consumption, advancing the integrated development of education, technology, and talent cultivation, and fostering cultural confidence to drive heritage preservation and innovation. He specially emphasised that Macau should leverage its unique strengths to deepen the development of the GBA and the HGM Zone, promoting economic diversification and steady growth. Additionally, he called for enhancing both national and international connection and collaboration to contribute to the nation’s overall progress.
Ms. Grace Wong underscored the significance and spirit of this year’s meetings. She pointed out the Central Government’s strong commitment to Macau’s “One Country, Two Systems” framework, economic development, and the HGM Zone, as well as its profound care for the well-being of Macau residents, which instilled confidence. She also highlighted the importance of women’s affairs, advocating for empowering women to excel in various fields and showcase their remarkable contributions.
SJM recorded key highlights from the briefing and broadcasted them in the staff areas of Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, Grand Lisboa Macau, Oceanus at Jai Alai, and Ponte 16 Resort Macau later that afternoon. This allowed employees across different shifts to access and comprehend the key messages of the Two Sessions.
This Sharing Session is one of key initiatives under the “SJM Patriotic Education Series.” As the first integrated tourism and leisure enterprise in Macau to offer patriotic education courses and red-themed tours for employees, SJM has been actively supporting the patriotic education programmes launched by the Macau SAR Government and the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macau. The company continues to organise various patriotic-themed activities, including national conditions training classes, the “Jinggangshan Patriotic Education and Training Programme,” the GBA Tours, the “Telling China’s Stories” family workshops, and patriotic film appreciation events, such as the recent screening of “Ne Zha 2.” These initiatives aim to instill the core values of “Love for the Motherland, Love for Macau” within the enterprise, families, and the younger generation, ensuring these values are passed down through generations.
The Sharing Session deepened SJM employees’ understanding of the spirit of the Two Sessions and the nation’s development trajectory. SJM remains committed to engaging its team in studying and promoting the key messages of the Two Sessions, strengthening patriotism and unity to support the long-term success of “One Country, Two Systems” and contribute to the nation’s progress.
