SJM Fully Supports DSPA’s Series of Activities for “2025 World Environment Day”
6 June 2025 – SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”), fully supports the series of activities for “2025 World Environment Day” organised by the Environmental Protection Bureau of the Macao SAR Government (“DSPA”) by participated in two major environmental initiatives – “Lights Off for One Hour” and “Casual Summer Wear – Let’s Conserve Energy”, while concurrently launching SJM “Sustainability Week” to encourage all team members to practise energy conservation and emission reduction. These collective efforts aim to promote environmental awareness and contribute to building a green lifestyle.
On 5 June at 8:30 p.m., all SJM hotels, entertainment facilities, and offices participated in the “Lights Off for One Hour” event by turning off all non-essential interior lights, façade decorations and outdoor LED screens for one hour. SJM also invited hotel guests and employees to participate in the energy-saving campaign by switching off non-essential lights in guest rooms and at home for one hour. SJM continues taking part in the “Casual Summer Wear – Let’s Conserve Energy” event organised by the DSPA from 1 June to 31 August 2025, encouraging employees to wear casual clothes to work, while frontline staff members may choose to wear lightweight uniforms. Additionally, office air conditioning temperatures have been set no lower than 25°C or increased by one degree from the usual setting. During lunch hours on workdays, non-essential office lighting and electrical appliances have been switched off to reduce energy consumption.
To further engage team members in environmental initiatives, SJM successfully held “Sustainability Week” from 2 to 5 June in the staff areas of Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, Grand Lisboa Macau, and Jai Alai Hotel, featuring four key activities: the “Green Shopping Roadshow”, “Swap Day”, “Sort for Fun”, and the “Sustainability Awareness Survey”. The “Swap Day” and “Sort for Fun” sessions were conducted in partnership with the environmental group “Green Future”, offering a barter exchange, interactive games, and practical waste-sorting tips tailored for Macau, all designed to promote resource recycling among staff. The initiative proved highly effective, with over 270 items exchanged during the event.
SJM mobilises over 19,000 team members to actively participate in this environmental campaign, not only raising their eco-awareness but also extending the thoughts of energy conservation and carbon reduction to their families and communities. This underscores SJM’s long-term commitment and tangible dedication to building a green city.
