SJM and the University of Macau Co-organise Sports Experience Workshops
23 April 2025 – SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) has partnered with the University of Macau (“UM”) Office of Sports Affairs to co-organise the sports experience workshops, covering both traditional and emerging sports activities. The first two workshops were held successfully on 16 April and 23 April. These events attracted over 120 teachers and students.
On 16 April, the first lion dance workshop was organised at the International School of Macao. During this event, SJM held an eye-dotting ceremony for a lion that SJM sponsored for the UM Office of Sports Affairs to purchase. The ceremony was officiated by Ms. Grace Chau from the UM Office of Sports Affairs, Mr. Lorne Schmidt, Head of School at the International School of Macao, and Mr. Timothy Lee, Assistant Vice President of Learning & Development at SJM Resorts, S.A. The UM lion dance team performed an impressive lion dance and taught students the basic techniques of this traditional art form. The goal was to help a new generation experience traditional culture in a modern way. Throughout the workshop, there was lively interaction between the teacher and students, resulting in an enjoyable afternoon filled with laughter and hard work.
After the lion dance workshop, a Korfball workshop was held on 23 April at Pui Ching Middle School in Macau, attracting over 60 students to participate. The UM Korfball team systematically explained the rules and techniques of this team sport. Through team training and friendly matches, they aimed to ignite the students' passion for this emerging sport.
SJM is committed to fostering sports development in Macau, cultivating youth talent, and promoting sports participation to build a “Healthy Macau.”
