SJM Strives to Nurture Future Talents for the Local Gastronomy Industry
17 July 2025 – SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) actively participated in the “2025 International Cities of Gastronomy Fest Macao” to showcase Macau’s reputation as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy to both residents and tourists. This gastronomic and cultural event highlighted the region's culinary excellence.
In addition to setting up booths at the International Gastronomy Promenade, SJM arranged for Murat Kara, the Turkish Chef De Cuisine at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau (“GLP”), to participate in the “International Gastronomy Forum, Macao” and the “City of Gastronomy Showcase.” SJM also hosted a significant Cultural Culinary Exchange Programme, inviting nearly 40 students from local vocational and secondary schools to participate. The programme was held at GLP’s Portuguese restaurant, “Mesa by Jose Avillex”, where Chef Herlander Fernandes teamed up with celebrated Thai chef Arnon Wongchiang. Together, they guided the participants in developing an appreciation for the unique charms of both local and international cuisines, This initiative aimed to inspire creative culinary thinking, fostering exchange and interaction, and nurture future talents for the local gastronomy industry.
