Strengthening Local Supply Chain Partnerships
Ip Sio Man, President of the Macau Union Suppliers Association, stated that the event marked a new starting point for the cooperation between the Association and SJM. He noted that the professional seminar aimed to help local SMEs better align their operations with the standards of integrated resort operators, thereby enhancing competitiveness. Meanwhile, the business matching sessions were designed to provide local SMEs with more opportunities to engage in direct dialogue with large enterprises, showcase their products, and explore potential partnerships. He emphasised that only through close collaboration across the entire supply chain can an ecosystem of “large enterprises empowering smaller ones for synergistic development” be truly realised.
Monica Ng, Vice President of Supply Chain (Operations & Services) of SJM, remarked that SJM has long upheld the principle of supporting and growing alongside local SMEs. The continued increase in SJM’s local SME procurement spending fully demonstrates the mutual trust and strong collaborative relationships built over the years. This Food Safety Workshop and Business Matching Session not only represents another achievement of the SJM SME Institution, but also serves as an effective platform for industry exchange and collaboration. SJM looks forward to engaging with more local SMEs with whom partnerships have yet to be established, jointly exploring new opportunities, and fostering mutual growth.
Expanding Local SME Network
At the Food Safety Workshop, SJM’s Food Safety team provided a detailed overview of the Company’s food safety standards, audit mechanisms, and specific requirements for suppliers throughout the food procurement and receiving processes. The workshop enabled participants to gain a comprehensive understanding of SJM’s food safety standards, thereby advancing overall service quality. Through this workshop, SJM aims to support the industry in strengthening food safety awareness and reducing food safety risks.
During the Business Matching Sessions, SJM conducted one-on-one business matching with 55 local SMEs, approximately one-third of which had no prior business relationship with SJM. This initiative actively expands SJM’s local SME supplier network and further increases the scale of local procurement.
Empowering Sustainable Local SME Growth
The SJM SME Institution, established in 2024 in response to the Macao SAR Government's "1+4" economic diversification strategy, has a primary focus on prioritizing local procurement and supporting SMEs. Through themed seminars, experience-sharing sessions, hands-on workshops, and guided tours covering sustainability, cybersecurity, and other topics, the SJM SME extends its support to SMEs that have yet to establish a business relationship with SJM, helping enterprises enhance product quality and management standards.
As early as 2016, SJM launched its SME procurement programme and has since established business relationships with nearly 2,500 local SMEs. Through initiatives such as business-matching sessions, product showcases, and the "Made in Macau" retail space, SJM supports local brands in expanding into international markets.
Looking ahead, SJM will continue to foster innovative partnerships, working alongside the Macau community and local SMEs to drive industry transformation and contribute to the city’s sustainably diversified economic development.
