SJM organises “Tell China’s Stories” workshop for children of staff
In celebration of the centennial of the Chinese Communist Party, Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (“SJM”) organised a workshop “Tell China’s Stories” for staff and their children on 23 May 2021 at the Kam Pek Community Centre. The activity aimed to pass on the spirit of “Love the Motherland and Love Macau” from generation to generation.
The workshop comprised two parts. It started with a talk by patriotic education instructor Mr. Yang Cheng on the Chinese Communist Party. Aided by a vivid video, the interactive talk covered the Party’s formation and stories of the martyrs. The children paid great attention to the talk and responded actively in the quiz session that followed. In the second part, an art and craft teacher taught the children to make handicrafts themed around《憫農》- a poem written in the Tang Dynasty, in memory of the Father of Hybrid Rice Mr. Yuan Longping, reminding the participants to cherish food as each bite does not come easy. In addition, the children took the opportunity to learn how to make carnation for their parents.
Joining the event was also Managing Director of SJM and Chairman of the SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee Ms. Angela Leong, who shared the joyful moments with the families. Ms. Leong stressed the importance of parent-child activities, especially for the gaming personnel due to work shifts. In view of this, SJM will organise a series of family-based activities, with the dual purpose to promote patriotic education while establishing an effective communication platform between parents and their children. She hoped that the young generation can deepen their knowledge of the development of our Country through the activities, and inherit the spirit of “Love the Motherland and Love Macau” for building a better tomorrow.
